Harvest 6 Together for Rugby: Churches Across Rugby Unite to Support Local Families

This Harvest, Rugby Foodbank is inviting churches across Rugby to come together for a new community challenge: Harvest 6 Together for Rugby.

Our ambitious goal is simple:

A new Harvest challenge

Harvest has always been a significant time of year for donations to Rugby Foodbank. Last year, churches, schools and businesses across Rugby collectively donated an incredible 9 tonnes of food, with 3 tonnes coming from local churches.

This year, with our food stocks currently low, we’re setting a new challenge: to double the amount donated by churches and reach 6 tonnes together.

We believe that when local churches unite behind a shared goal, we can make a significant difference to people in our community. God tells us to pray BIG, and we have every faith that churches across Rugby can help us reach this 6-tonne goal together.

Every church, regardless of size, has an opportunity to get involved. Whether your congregation contributes 50kg or 500kg, every donation can help provide essential food and support to local families and individuals facing the rising cost of living and other challenges.

To help make your Harvest celebrations engaging, enjoyable and impactful, we’ve put together a range of resources that churches can use as part of their services and events.

These include interactive activities designed to inspire giving and help congregations understand the difference their donations can make.

Ideas for getting involved

There are lots of ways your church can take part in Harvest 6 Together for Rugby. For example, you could:

• Organise a Harvest Supper and invite everyone attending to bring a food donation.
• Host a Foodbank Quiz as part of a Harvest lunch after your Sunday service – bringing people together for some fun while collecting donations.
• Host a Songs for a Supper evening – invite your congregation and community to enjoy an evening of popular hymns and songs, with an opportunity to make a donation to Rugby Foodbank.

These are just a few ideas. We’d love to see churches get creative and find ways that work well for their own congregations and communities.

Help us support your church

If your church is planning to take part, we’d be grateful if you could complete our short Microsoft Form. This will help us plan and coordinate our Harvest response and make sure we’re able to provide the best possible support to participating churches.

The form will ask for:

• The date of your Harvest celebrations and collection period
• The best contact at your church for Harvest communications
• Whether you need any additional support from Rugby Foodbank with your Harvest celebrations
