10 Years of Rugby Foodbank!

25th May 2022

March 19th 2022 marked the 10th year anniversary of the opening of the Rugby Foodbank,

In its starting year 2012 Rugby Foodbank processed 639 foodbank vouchers which served to supply 1500 3 day emergency food parcels. The current figures for the last year show that in the year to date 2300+ vouchers have been redeemed, supplying over 5000 3 day emergency food parcels in the Rugby area. Of this food provided 37% went to children.

During the first food bank year of opening 20 tonnes of food was distributed to the community in Rugby, compared with so far this last year 84 tonnes of food has been provided to those in food poverty in the Rugby area.

During the ten years of Rugby foodbank over 561 tonnes of food has been donated and distributed to provide 3 day emergency food parcels to over 38,000 people.

Rugby foodbank is resourced by a team of over 70 local volunteers who commit the necessary time to keep our warehouse and distribution operations functioning.. All the food distributed to those in need in the community has been donated thanks to the generosity of those in the local community. We are constantly amazed by the generosity and support that Rugby Foodbank receives from those that care in Rugby. Many Thanks to you all.

This last financial year has been our busiest yet and even more than in the pre and post lockdown 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 years.

Rugby Foodbank is a Trussell trust affiliated foodbank run by the Rugby charity Hope4.
