Daniel Joins the Hope Centre Staff

21st August 2025

We are delighted that Daniel Martin has recently joined the team as our first Senior Key Worker. Daniel shares his reflections after the first few months,

“Just over 3 months in as part of the Hope Centre team, I am really enjoying the role of Senior Key Worker and look forward to developing the service and wrap-around support offered. Driven by God’s heart for the poor and disadvantaged, I have always wanted to work on the front line in a client focused role demonstrating God’s love, grace and mercy.

I spent a couple of years Key Working those experiencing homelessness with the Kings Arms Project in Bedford, and then the last 8 years part of church planting teams in Istanbul. I served in most areas of church life, and highlights were leading and initiating social justice initiatives like distributing food to those in need and empowering those on the margins such as refugees engaging well with school.

Seeing the role advertised, I was excited by the job description and impressed by the work Hope4 are doing in Rugby through the Hope Centre facilities and casework, looking to end homelessness in the town. I was thrilled to be offered the job and be part of a great team.

I am filled with joy seeing the fruit of treating an individual with dignity as they access the Hope Centre, whether that is by making a hot drink for a rough sleeper, or supporting someone housed in developing independent living skills such as budgeting and cooking.

Highlights so far have been delivering tailored support that helps clients set goals and pursue healthy choices around physical and mental wellbeing, such as advocating for them seeing a nurse and reengaging with drug and alcohol services. Also, it is rewarding collaborating and advocating with other agencies to see people housed and end their homelessness.

The role has its challenges, none more so than remaining hopeful assessing the housing options of those entrenched in homelessness, and comprehending the extent of the needs faced by many experiencing homelessness.

I look forward to being part of the solution where each client that comes through the door feels respected, receives excellent service, and ends up having a safe place to call home.”
